HOW WE DO IT

1
RECEIVING YOUR FIREARM / OTHER PARTS
Upon receiving a customer's firearm or other parts, the parcel is date stamped to be completed in order of receipt. We then can inform the customer of an accurate completion date.
2
ALL PARTS ARE PHOTOGRAPHED & INVENTORIED
When a project is opened, pictures are taken, and an inventory of parts is carefully recorded.
3
DISASSEMBLY & DETAIL STRIPPED
Parts are disassembled and detail stripped so that all parts or components are separated. A photograph is taken again if there are multiple small parts.
4
DEGREASING & OIL REMOVAL
Degreasing of the parts is next; this is a paramount step in the procedure to make certain you receive the best adhesion of the Cerakote. Spraying degreaser on parts is not sufficient to get all of the oil out of the metal. All parts are soaked in a degreasing agent for at least 2 hours and afterwards the parts are air dried. From this point on, rubber gloves are worn whenever handling all the cleaned parts.
5
PLASTIC PARTS ARE TREATED SEPERATELY
Plastic parts are degreased separately with cleaners safe for use with plastic. Plastic parts are thoroughly rinsed after degreasing.
6
METAL SURFACES PREPPED WITH SANDBLASTING
Metal surfaces are prepped by sandblasting with aluminum oxide or garnet until a dull sheen is achieved. Plastic is also sand blasted, but at lower pressures. Barrels and chambers are protected by plugging them with silicon plugs.
7
PARTS ARE BAKED TO GAS OUT ANY REMAINING OIL
'Gas-out' occurs by baking the parts in a specialty oven at a consistent desired temperature. For most metals, this is done for around one hour. Plastic parts are baked separately at a lower temperature and for various time lengths, depending on the product.
8
COOL DOWN & FINAL INSPECTION FOR ANY OIL
Once done, the parts are removed to cool and are inspected to see if any oil or other contaminants still remain. If there are oils still present, the soaking and baking process must be repeated as many times as necessary to completely clean the item. This could take several hours or several days.
9
CORRECT CERAKOTE COLOUR / PRODUCT CHOSEN
In preparation for coating, the correct Cerakote product is selected in the customer's chosen colour(s). Some coatings require a hardener which is carefully mixed to achieve the desired level of sheen - anywhere from a matte finish to a semi gloss is possible. The coating is always mixed and filtered before adding to the spray gun.
10
PARTS SPRAYED WITH COLOUR & BAKED
The parts are hung by hooks or fine wire and are sprayed according to Cerakote instructions. Shortly after spraying, the parts are hung in the oven at the desired temperature for a predetermined time to harden and cure the finish.
11
DETAILING & ADDITIONAL COLORS
Any parts that require additional colours or details are filled and baked again to provide maximum protection.
12
FINAL ASSEMBLY & SHIPMENT TO THE CUSTOMER
Once the parts are cool (usually allowed to sit overnight), they are reassembled if required or wrapped and shipped back to the customer.
